Masks

Standard

Every profound spirit needs a mask: moreover, around every profound spirit a mask is growing continually, owing to the constantly false, namely shallow, interpretation of every word, every step, every sign of life that he gives.

~ Nietzsche

Tonight I learned again the extent to which we all wear masks at work. In some respects this is okay; in many ways it is not. It robs us of our ability to connect with one another on an authentic level, which makes it easier to maintain a superficial relationship and to invent ulterior motives when none exist.

Connecting as unique, beautiful, complex individuals is the only way to form lasting, productive, and satisfying relationships–in work or in life. Or in worklife.
